Civilian Mobile Phone Jammer Use

In many countries, civilians are not allowed to operate a mobile phone jammer, leaving the use of mobile phone jammers restricted to military and police use.

In the military, if a terrorist constructs an IED to be detonated using a cell phone, a mobile phone jammer can block that detonation.  In a hostage situation, authorities can block out communication from inside the area where a hostage is being held, to prevent the hostage takers from communicating with anyone but negotiators.  In the right hands, these devices can be used for a lot of good, helping to save lives and prevent disasters.
