Is it legal to own a Cell Phone Jammer in the US?

I’m on wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_jammer ), and it’s telling me at the way bottom…

- United States: illegal to operate, manufacture, import, or offer for sale, including advertising (Communications Act of 1934), with fines of up to ,000 and imprisonment of up to one year.

It doesn’t say anything about owning it, because for the UK, it says:

- United Kingdom: illegal to use, but >legal to own.<

So can I have one, and not operate it, but just own it? Cause it doesn’t say anything about just owning one being legal…

Please respond, as I am very curious, lol

Using a mobile phone jammer to silence Mr Blabbermouth on train?

I know they are illegal in the UK. I just want answers as to what the moral, ethical and practical opinion is on this.

My 6 year old and I were travelling back from Glasgow. We were sitting together chatting and enjoying the train ride. Then Mr Blabbermouth sits in front of us (2 feet away) and he makes phone call after phone call. My son and I had been speaking quietly (as we respect the other passengers as civilised people should) but now we are totally drowned out by some buffoon and his meaningless twattle.

If I could afford a mobile phone jammer (and they were legal) I would have used it. But do YOU think its wrong or right to do so, and why?

Has anyone ever been arrested for a mobile phone jammer in the United States?

I understand that a device that jams a cell phone signal is illegal in the United States due to the Communications Act of 1934. However, can anyone cite a single case where someone was arrested, charged and sentenced because of this act (being in possession of a mobile phone jammer OR operating a mobile phone jammer)? I’ll even settle for someone just being arrested due to a violation of this act. I am very interested in the subject matter.
